Leeds United has verbally agreed to a £20 million deal to sell defender Pascal Struijk to Brighton, according to reports. The 26-year-old left-footed center-back is a popular figure at Elland Road, but the club had been struggling to secure a new contract with him.

Struijk, who joined Leeds in 2018, has made 196 appearances for the club during his eight-year spell. The agreement was reached on Saturday, with Brighton still to formalize their bid. Leeds had proposed a new contract, but Struijk sought a new challenge, and the club aimed to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Brighton has been active in the transfer market, having previously sold Jan Paul van Hecke to Spurs for £52 million and seeing three offers for Luka Vuskovic rejected. The club has also opened talks with Atalanta for 18-year-old Honest Ahanor and with Venezia for Austrian World Cup defender Michael Svoboda.
