Formula One world champion Lando Norris stated that he feels "violated" by paparazzi, describing an instance where he was followed for 40 minutes through London. Norris, 26, voiced his concerns following recent footage of him with American influencer Alix Earle at a London club.
Norris explained that the constant surveillance makes it difficult to leave his hotel or house without feeling observed. "That’s the first time I have felt a bit violated in my life – that I can’t leave my hotel or house without someone trying to see my every move," Norris said. "It feels as if I don’t have much of a private life."
Despite the intrusions, Norris asserted his right to enjoy his time outside of racing. "I am getting a bit older and I want to go out. That doesn’t mean go out and party. It just means getting out of the house," he commented. He added that while he previously spent more time gaming, he now balances that with social outings with friends.
Norris, who lives in Monaco but frequently travels to the UK for his McLaren team's facilities, emphasized that his personal life does not impact his professional commitments. "Nothing has changed about the amount of preparation I do, and the number of days I spend on the simulator, and my focus on sleep," he stated. His performance coach monitors his sleep patterns through a WHOOP device.
The British driver's recent public appearances have drawn media attention. He was seen at The Twenty Two private members’ club in Mayfair after the British Grand Prix, where he finished fourth. Social media reports indicated he and Earle left the venue around 4 a.m.
Norris is currently defending his title, facing challenges in the ongoing season. He is 82 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli after retiring from two races and failing to start another due to engine issues. He is also set to receive a 10-place grid penalty at the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix in Spa. In practice sessions leading up to the race, Norris recorded the second-fastest lap time, two-tenths of a second behind Antonelli.
