Minnesota Timberwolves guard LaMelo Ball has employed a personal driver, according to his older brother, Lonzo Ball. The move comes amid ongoing discussions about LaMelo Ball's extensive collection of luxury vehicles and his past incidents on the road.
During a recent appearance on the "Curious Mike" podcast, Lonzo Ball stated that his younger brother owns approximately 10 cars, with a value estimated at $1 million each. Lonzo Ball suggested that LaMelo's habit of purchasing expensive cars and subsequently damaging them could be mitigated by using a driver. He described his brother's approach to vehicle ownership as "[He'll] buy a $1 million car and then just immediately f–k it up."
Lonzo Ball clarified that while his brother "doesn’t get into accidents, but he has a lot of situations on the road." The decision to hire a driver could reduce the frequency of these on-road incidents. LaMelo Ball, previously with the Charlotte Hornets, was traded to the Timberwolves in June as part of a deal that also sent Josh Green to Minnesota in exchange for Naz Reid and draft picks.
Lonzo Ball, whose own NBA career has been significantly impacted by injuries, shared his perspective on resilience and acceptance in the face of setbacks. "I came at peace with that when I got hurt the first time," he said, referencing his prolonged absence from the game due to injury. He noted that each injury sets an athlete back and that he has come to terms with the possibility of not returning to his previous level of performance.
The Charlotte Hornets selected LaMelo Ball with the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Lonzo Ball was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers as the second overall pick in 2017 and has also played for the New Orleans Pelicans and Chicago Bulls. His career with the Cavaliers was short-lived after being traded and subsequently waived without appearing in a game.
