Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson sustained a right thumb injury on the very first offensive snap of Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills, forcing him to exit and ruling him out for the remainder of the contest. This latest setback occurred as Jackson was making his return from a three-game absence due to a high-ankle sprain.

Bills outside linebacker Greg Rousseau made contact with Jackson's hand as he attempted a throw on the opening play. Jackson immediately went to the sideline and then headed to the locker room with a towel over his right hand. Tyler Huntley, who had previously started in Jackson's place, took over at quarterback.

Prior to his ankle injury, Jackson had recorded seven total touchdowns in the Ravens' first four games. He had previously acknowledged not being entirely pain-free in his ankle but had expressed his intention to play through it. The Ravens trailed the Bills 10-0 late in the first quarter before punting on their initial two possessions.
