Klay Thompson has indicated a willingness to return to the Golden State Warriors to conclude his NBA career. During an autograph session at Fanatics Fest over the weekend, Thompson stated multiple times that he would be open to playing his final years in the Bay Area.

In a video shared on Instagram, Thompson responded to a fan asking about a potential return by saying, “Shoot, I don’t know. I got one year on my deal. It’d be nice to end it in Golden State.” Another interaction saw Thompson tell a fan, “Never say never” when encouraged to rejoin the Warriors.

Recent reports from NBA insider Marc Stein suggested the Dallas Mavericks are considering a trade or buyout for Thompson. He has one year remaining on a three-year, $50 million contract signed in 2024. Stein also noted interest from the Miami Heat in acquiring Thompson, potentially to play alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.

Thompson, who will turn 37 next season, was a key member of the Warriors dynasty that won four NBA championships between 2011 and 2024. Alongside Stephen Curry, he formed the “Splash Brothers” backcourt and was recognized as one of the league's premier three-point shooters, earning five All-Star selections.

His career has been marked by significant injuries. In Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, Thompson suffered a torn left ACL, which kept him out for the remainder of the finals and the entire following season. While recovering, he sustained another major setback in November 2020, rupturing his right Achilles tendon during a pickup game.

Thompson returned to play in 2021 but has not consistently performed at his previous level, eventually moving to a reserve role. The Warriors have also been reportedly pursuing LeBron James and recently re-signed Kristaps Porzingis to a two-year, $40 million contract extension.
