Kinley Rasmus has set a new record for hits by a girl at the Little League World Series. The 12-year-old pitcher and shortstop for the Phenix City, Alabama, team representing the Southeast, recorded her fifth hit during a comeback victory over a team from Tacoma, Washington, on Tuesday.

Rasmus, the daughter of former major league pitcher Cory Rasmus, has also distinguished herself on the mound. Earlier in the tournament, she allowed just one hit in six innings pitched against Tacoma, recording eight strikeouts. That strikeout total tied Mo'Ne Davis' mark for the most by a girl in a single Little League World Series game.

Rasmus added six more strikeouts in a victory on Monday, bringing her tournament total to 14, which also matches a record previously held by Davis. Phenix City's tournament run continues with another elimination game scheduled for Wednesday, where Rasmus will have an opportunity to add to her hit total.
