Kevin Pietersen will serve as a specialist mentor for England's white-ball cricket teams as they prepare for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. His tenure begins with the upcoming Twenty20 and one-day international matches against Sri Lanka.
Pietersen's involvement will extend to tours of Australia and South Africa later this year. He is also slated to rejoin the team for home series against Pakistan and New Zealand next summer, culminating in his participation in the 50-over World Cup to be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia in the autumn of 2027.
Brendon McCullum, England's white-ball head coach, expressed his satisfaction with the appointment. "I've got immense respect for KP and what he's achieved in the game," McCullum stated. "He's had an amazing impact on English cricket, so for someone with his experience, knowledge and stature to want to play a role with this team is a fantastic result."
