Kelani Jordan has officially ascended to the top of the WWE NXT women's division, winning the NXT Women's Championship from Kendal Grey at the Heatwave event on Sunday night. The victory marks a significant milestone for Jordan, who has expressed frustration in the past about missed opportunities.
Championship Match
The championship bout was described as one of the best women's matches of the year. Jordan secured the win with a split-legged moonsault after executing a maneuver that sent Grey into the turnbuckle, with Grey's momentum carrying her back into the ring. Despite Grey's attempts to retain the title, including an avalanche reverse Spanish Fly and a powerful knee strike, Jordan's resilience ultimately led her to victory.
Jordan's determination was a key factor in her triumph, fueling her first reign as NXT Women's Champion. She utilized her gymnastics background to counter Grey's amateur wrestling strengths, proving to be the decisive factor in the match.
Previous Title History
While this is Jordan's first NXT Women's Championship, she has held other titles. She was the inaugural NXT Women's North American Champion and briefly held the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) Knockouts Championship. Jordan lost the NXT Women's North American Championship in a gauntlet match to Fallon Henley at Halloween Havoc 2024. Her reign as TNA Knockouts Champion concluded at NXT Gold Rush last November when she was defeated by Lei Ying Lee in a triple-threat match.
