The city of Los Angeles is poised to lose its two most prominent basketball stars within a short timeframe, as reports indicate the LA Clippers are nearing a deal to trade Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors.

This development follows closely on the heels of news that LeBron James is leaving the Lakers. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the proposed trade would send Leonard to Toronto in exchange for forward Brandon Ingram, guard Gradey Dick, two first-round draft picks, a pick swap, and two second-round picks.

This potential move marks the end of a significant era for the Clippers, who acquired Leonard with the expectation of competing for an NBA championship. However, the team ultimately fell short of that goal during his tenure alongside Paul George.

For Leonard, the reported trade is seen as an opportunity to return to the Raptors, the team he led to an unexpected NBA championship in 2019, earning Finals MVP honors. His departure from Los Angeles comes amid heightened scrutiny surrounding his dealings with the Clippers, including allegations of impropriety in a deal with the now-bankrupt environmental company Aspiration, which is suspected of being used to circumvent the NBA's salary cap.

Leonard originally joined the Clippers just weeks after his championship run with the Raptors, a victory that brought Toronto its first major professional sports title in the "Big Four" leagues since the Blue Jays' World Series wins in 1992 and 1993.
