Jordan Henderson has signed a two-year contract with Chelsea, the club announced. The midfielder joins as a free agent following the mutual termination of his contract with Brentford.

Henderson brings a decorated history to Chelsea, having captained Liverpool to a Premier League title in the 2019-20 season. His trophy cabinet also includes a Champions League, an FA Cup, two League Cups, a UEFA Super Cup, and a FIFA Club World Cup from his tenure at Anfield.

His career path in recent years has seen a move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq in 2023, followed by a stint with Dutch side Ajax in January 2024. He returned to the Premier League with Brentford last summer, appearing in 32 top-flight matches during the 2025-26 season.

"Given the size of the club, the manager [Xabi Alonso] who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn't turn down," Henderson stated. "For me, it's about giving everything every single day, both on and off the field, to help the players around me and the team as much as possible. I'm very excited to get going."

Henderson began his professional career at Sunderland, making his Premier League debut against Chelsea on November 1, 2008, in a 5-0 defeat.
