Jalen Brunson acknowledged the intense rivalry between the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics, particularly in light of his former teammate Mitchell Robinson signing with Boston in free agency. While Brunson stated he is happy for Robinson, he also recognizes the shift in their relationship during games.
"Obviously playing for a rival and I know people want every team to hate each other. But there are some people you really care for and that’s my guy," Brunson told The Post. "I’m happy for him. And now, whenever we play him — four times a year — he’s not my friend that day."
Robinson's departure marks the only significant change to the Knicks' championship rotation from the previous season. Reports indicate that the move was primarily driven by financial considerations.
Brunson characterized losing Robinson as "very tough" and emphasized his personal connection to the center, describing him as "my guy."
