J.T. Poston, ranked 32nd in the Official World Golf Ranking, suffered a dramatic collapse on the 13th hole during Sunday's play at the Travelers Championship, where he posted a score of 12. The incident significantly impacted his overall standing in the tournament.

The par-5 13th hole began promisingly for Poston with a well-placed tee shot in the fairway. However, his second shot landed in a greenside bunker. From the bunker, his attempt to reach the green fell short, leaving him with a chip shot. His fourth shot then went astray, crossing the green and landing in the water.

This prompted Poston to take multiple drop balls near the water hazard, with subsequent attempts to get the ball onto the green also resulting in the ball rolling back into the water. On his 10th stroke, he finally reached the putting surface. After missing his 11th putt, he tapped in for a score of 12 on the hole.

Poston described the challenges of the situation, noting that the rough near the water was difficult to escape, and his chips were not getting enough loft to clear the green's false front. He also attempted to putt from the greenside rough, concerned that it would not have sufficient speed to reach the putting surface.

Following the difficult 13th hole, Poston continued to struggle, making a double bogey on the par-4 14th hole. He finished the day with a 76, placing him 6-over par and tied for 69th place among those who made the cut.

The Travelers Championship concluded with a playoff between Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler, who were tied at 21-under par after regulation play. Scheffler capitalized on an opportunity to force the playoff after Hovland missed a putt to win.
