New York Giants quarterback J.J. McCarthy left Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a hip injury. The injury occurred early in the third quarter after McCarthy was tackled by Eagles linebacker Zack Baun following a short run.

McCarthy was evaluated in the sideline medical tent before heading to the locker room. He attempted a warmup pass on the sideline and appeared to be in pain, grabbing his right side. Jameis Winston, who had previously started games before McCarthy took over, entered the game to replace him.

This marks the second time this season the Giants have lost their starting quarterback to injury, after Jaxson Dart suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 2. McCarthy's potential absence raises concerns about the Giants' immediate future in the NFC East race and their plans leading up to the trade deadline.
