Cameron Carr, a rookie for the Los Angeles Lakers, has garnered praise from former Lakers guard Isaiah Thomas for his performance during the NBA summer league. Carr, who has yet to play in a regular-season NBA game, averaged 18 points, 2.3 rebounds, and one assist over four summer league contests. He recorded a standout performance in the Lakers' summer league opener against the Heat on July 5, scoring 26 points and making four three-pointers.

Thomas noted that he had been observing Carr since the NBA draft combine, where Carr "probably had the best showing." He described Carr as "a hooper's hooper" and expressed confidence in his potential impact on the Lakers. "He can space the floor, he can catch and shoot, and he can put the ball on the ground and make a play for others," Thomas said. "That’s always good when you’re a young guard coming into this league."

Thomas added that Carr had impressed him the most among players outside the top draft picks. Carr was selected by the Lakers with the 24th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Prior to being drafted, Carr played three seasons of college basketball at Tennessee and Baylor. In his final college season at Baylor, he led the team in scoring with an average of 18.9 points per game.
