Gotham FC has announced a significant capital raise of $100 million, establishing itself as the most valued professional women's soccer franchise. The funding comes from seven new minority investors and was announced as the National Women's Soccer League playoffs are set to begin.
The investment aims to accelerate the club's growth through continued investment in players, infrastructure, and fan experiences, according to a statement from the club. The investor group is reportedly led by the Moelis family and includes T. Rowe Price chief investment officer David Giroux and JBK Partners managing partner Anne Welsh McNulty. Gotham lead owner Carolyn Tisch Blodgett and existing investor Jennifer Mackesy also made substantial contributions.
While Gotham FC has not disclosed the specifics of the deal, Forbes reported that the capital infusion values the club at $350 million. This valuation surpasses the previously reported $340 million valuation of Angel City FC.
"When we became owners of Gotham FC three years ago, we saw an opportunity to build something truly special — not just a successful soccer club, but a franchise that could help redefine what’s possible in women’s sports," Tisch Blodgett stated. "We’ve made extraordinary progress in a short period of time, but in many ways, we’re just getting started. We want to build a club that competes with the best in the world, attracts top talent, and creates a passionate fan base."
This financial milestone comes as Gotham FC is also undertaking significant infrastructure development. The club is constructing a new practice facility in Whippany, New Jersey, and is slated to move to the new Etihad Park in Queens, New York, in 2028. Gotham FC recently secured its first NWSL Shield with a victory over the Utah Royals and is preparing to face Seattle Reign FC in the playoff quarterfinals.
