Charley Hull, a professional golfer, recently played a prank on her long-time caddie, Adam Woodward, by presenting him with a fake $100,000 lottery ticket. The incident occurred the day before the AIG Women's Open at Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Course.
Hull recounted the event, stating she purchased the fake tickets from a prank shop in Blackpool. She then brought them to the players' lounge and offered one to Woodward, who scratched off the $100,000 prize ticket. According to Hull, Woodward became visibly ecstatic, removing his hat and glasses, and exclaiming his intention to take the day off. He was reportedly sweating and trembling with excitement before Hull revealed the ticket was a fake.
"He nearly quit the job," Hull said, describing the moment as "absolutely hilarious." She shared footage of Woodward's reaction on her Instagram Story. In the video, Woodward's mouth is wide open in shock, and Hull noted he was high-fiving everyone.
Hull admitted that a part of her felt bad after the prank and that she anticipates some form of retaliation from her caddie. "I don’t know what he’s got in store for me," she commented.
The AIG Women's Open features a $10 million prize pool for its 50th anniversary, a sum that has tripled since the tournament was last held at the Lancashire course eight years prior. Hull mentioned that the significant prize money motivates her, stating, "Even if I’m quite a lot behind I am like, make loads of birdies today, extra dollars, for me and him to get."
Hull, who has nine career titles including three LPGA Tour wins and five on the Ladies European Tour, most recently won the PIF Saudi Ladies International in February. She was scheduled to tee off on Thursday at 8:26 a.m. ET.
