U.S. Men's National Team midfielder Gio Reyna is reportedly in discussions for a potential transfer from German club Borussia Mönchengladbach to French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg. The Athletic reported Wednesday that Reyna is negotiating terms for the move.

If the transfer materializes, it would mark Reyna's fourth club in four seasons and follow a single campaign with Mönchengladbach. During the 2025-26 season, he appeared in 19 league matches, scoring one goal, but struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter, playing just over 500 minutes in the Bundesliga.

Despite limited club playing time, Reyna was selected for the U.S. World Cup roster and participated in all five of the team's matches during the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The 23-year-old, son of former U.S. international Claudio Reyna, scored in the United States' 4-1 victory over Paraguay and accumulated 131 minutes of action throughout the competition.

Strasbourg, which finished eighth in Ligue 1 last season, is owned by a consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital. This ownership group also holds a stake in Premier League club Chelsea.

Reyna began his youth career in the New York City FC academy from 2015 to 2019 before joining Borussia Dortmund's academy program. A highly anticipated prospect in American soccer, his career has been impacted by injuries. He was also involved in a controversy during the 2022 World Cup, where then-head coach Gregg Berhalter considered sending him home due to disciplinary issues.
