San Francisco Giants outfielder Harrison Bader will miss the remainder of the season after a scooter accident that further injured his left foot. The incident reportedly occurred early Sunday morning around 1:50 a.m. local time after Bader had been at multiple bars.
According to local reports, Bader crashed his scooter into a San Francisco Fire Department truck, after which the truck ran over his foot. He was hospitalized around 2 a.m.
Giants manager Tony Vitello stated that Bader was already expected to miss the rest of the season due to a pre-existing plantar fasciitis condition, but the scooter accident has now solidified that outcome.
This is not the first time Bader has been involved in a scooter-related incident. While playing for the University of Florida in 2014, he received a 19-game suspension for crashing a scooter into a parked truck, an incident reportedly involving alcohol.
Bader is in the first year of a two-year contract with the Giants worth over $20 million. He has played for seven teams during his career, including the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, and Philadelphia Phillies. The 2021 Gold Glove Award winner has appeared in 30 games for the Giants this season, batting .170 with a .198 on-base percentage and a .358 slugging percentage.
