Hull City hero Geovanni has shared the story behind his iconic goal against Arsenal, revealing that he was close to leaving the club just before scoring the memorable equalizer. The Brazilian midfielder's strike at the Emirates Stadium in September 2008 was a pivotal moment in Hull's Premier League history, contributing to a famous comeback win that made them only the second team to secure an away victory at Arsenal.

In an exclusive interview, Geovanni described the circumstances leading up to the match. He explained that his desire to leave Hull was strong, and he was even considering returning home. However, circumstances changed, leading to his continued presence at the club and the eventual legendary goal. "Winning at the Emirates is very hard... but we were a team of warriors," Geovanni recalled, emphasizing the team's collective spirit during the match. The goal itself, a spectacular strike, leveled the score and ignited a comeback that secured a remarkable 2-1 victory for the Tigers.

Geovanni's time at Hull City, though marked by this singular moment, also included other notable performances. He had previously scored a diving header for Benfica that helped eliminate Manchester United from the Champions League in 2005 and scored again against Manchester United in a 4-3 defeat for Hull at Old Trafford in November 2008. His spell with Hull City left a lasting impression, and he expressed gratitude for his time with the club, stating, "I'm very grateful for everything they did for me. Hull and the fans will always be in my heart."

Before joining Hull City, Geovanni had a brief stint with Barcelona, having moved to Europe from Cruzeiro. His career also saw him playing for other clubs, but his contribution to Hull City's memorable Premier League journey, particularly the Emirates Stadium triumph, remains a significant part of his legacy. Geovanni returned to Hull's MKM Stadium last year, where he received a hero's welcome, underscoring the enduring connection he has with the club and its supporters.
