Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has expressed confidence in goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, stating that he does not believe it is necessary to extensively discuss the player's recent spate of high-profile errors. Donnarumma has faced scrutiny following mistakes in recent matches, including being caught flat-footed during the Champions League victory over RB Leipzig, and prior errors against Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa.

Maresca indicated that Donnarumma is aware of his missteps and does not require in-depth conversations. "He's good, overall he's good," Maresca said of the goalkeeper's current mood. "He's quite relaxed, in terms of recognising that he has done some mistakes but has made some good saves."

The manager further explained his approach, noting that some players require more detailed discussions after errors than others. "There are players that when they make mistakes you need conversation with them, and there are players that when they make some mistake you just need eye contact to understand that he recognises. With Gigio it's quite easy because every time he has made some mistake or something that was not correct, he recognises immediately. Sometimes you don't need to be so deep with some players."

Separately, Maresca also commented on midfielder Elliot Anderson, suggesting the player has further potential to unlock. Anderson, a summer signing, is set to feature against Nottingham Forest. Maresca described the player's progress as gradual but consistent, noting that Anderson is currently operating as a holding midfielder but could play further forward in the future.

In other news, Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa has backed 19-year-old Josh King following his first call-up to the England squad. King has impressed for Fulham this season and is seen as a crucial player for the team. Arbeloa described the call-up as a "special moment" for the player and the club, highlighting King's talent and maturity. The manager also acknowledged that King needs to improve his finishing, but praised his mentality and character. Fulham faces Newcastle next, with defender Timothy Castagne unavailable due to a knee issue.
