Georgia Tech's Jaylen Mbakwe was carted off the field and transported to a local hospital on Saturday following a collision with a teammate during the game against Tennessee. The incident occurred in the third quarter with 14:09 remaining when Mbakwe's helmet made forceful contact with teammate Jordan Walker's knee during a tackle attempt.

Mbakwe remained down on the field after the impact, prompting medical personnel and trainers to attend to him. Play was suspended for an extended period as emergency staff stabilized Mbakwe, placing him on a backboard and stretcher. Walker also received attention on the field and was later seen testing his knee.

As Mbakwe was being wheeled off on a cart, he raised his arm and gave a thumbs-up to the crowd, drawing applause. Several teammates surrounded the cart as it departed the field, and Mbakwe exchanged high-fives before being taken into the tunnel. He was subsequently transported by ambulance to a Level 1 trauma center for further evaluation and scans, according to the game broadcast.

The incident cast a somber mood over the stadium, with both sidelines visibly shaken. Play eventually resumed after the lengthy delay.
