Coco Gauff advanced to the US Open semifinals after saving two match points in her comeback victory over Mirra Andreeva. The fourth seed secured a 2-6, 7-6 (9-7), 6-2 win in a match that lasted over two hours.

Gauff, the reigning US Open champion, was outplayed in the opening set but rallied in the second. She trailed in the second set multiple times but forced a decider after winning a lengthy tie-break. A partisan crowd in New York cheered her resilience, which Gauff later attributed, in part, to inspiration from compatriot Frances Tiafoe's earlier comeback victory.

"At the end of the first set I was thinking about Frances and how he came back yesterday," Gauff said. "We all want to do well in front of this crowd. Honestly, I was just trying to leave the court with no regrets."

This marks Gauff's second consecutive Grand Slam semifinal appearance. Her semifinal opponent will be Elena Rybakina, who is set to become the world's No. 1 ranked player. Rybakina also faced a challenge in her quarterfinal match, defeating Zheng Qinwen 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. It was the first time in the tournament that Rybakina lost a set.

The US Open women's singles semifinals will feature the top four seeds for the first time at a major tournament since Wimbledon in 2009. Top seed Aryna Sabalenka and third seed Jessica Pegula also secured their places in the last four on Tuesday.
