Several key England players are at risk of suspension for a potential World Cup semi-final due to a change in FIFA's yellow card regulations. The Three Lions are set to face Norway in a quarter-final match in Miami, with a victory potentially advancing them to the final four.

Under the revised rules for this tournament, yellow cards are reset after the group stage and again after the quarter-finals. Previously, only one card amnesty occurred before the semi-finals.

Players who have already received a yellow card between the round of 32 and the quarter-final stage are now on thin ice. This includes Declan Rice, who has accumulated two yellow cards, one against Ghana and another versus Mexico. Jude Bellingham also carries a yellow card from England's round-of-32 match against DR Congo. Nico O'Reilly and Marc Guehi, a teammate of O'Reilly's at Manchester City, are also among those who could face suspension if booked again.

Jordan Henderson, a midfielder for Brentford, has also received a yellow card. However, his risk of suspension is considered low due to a significant forearm injury sustained during a match in Mexico City. Henderson reportedly suffered the injury during a post-match celebration.

All four players with a single yellow card – Rice, Bellingham, O'Reilly, and Guehi – are expected to start in the upcoming match against Norway. The team is preparing for the game under manager Thomas Tuchel.
