ESPY Awards host Marcello Hernández used his opening monologue to deliver sharp critiques of NFL coach Bill Belichick and golf legend Tiger Woods.

Hernández, a comedian, began by addressing Belichick, who is 74, and his relationship with his 25-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson. "In 1973, hockey players didn’t wear helmets. Basketball had no 3-point line. And in 1973, Bill Belichick was the age his girlfriend is now," Hernández quipped. Belichick has been dating Hudson for over three years, following his breakup with Linda Holliday after 15 years together.

The comedian then turned his attention to Tiger Woods. Hernández joked that Woods, who was arrested for DUI earlier this year after crashing his Land Rover, would be featured on the cover of "Grand Theft Auto VI." "I want to congratulate Caleb Williams for being on the cover of the new ‘Madden’ video game. Congratulations to Caleb,” Hernández said. ” And – uh – Tiger Woods will be on the cover of ‘Grand Theft Auto.’ I love you, Tiger. I’m a big fan, man. It’s just, it was written so well." The comment alluded to body cam footage from Woods' arrest where he told officers he was talking to then-President Trump. "Grand Theft Auto VI," a highly anticipated video game known for its virtual criminal activities, is scheduled for release in November.

Also in the monologue, Hernández made light of last year's host, Shane Gillis, and international visitors' affinity for ranch dressing. The ESPYs also recognized the New York Knicks, awarding them "Best Team," "Best Play" for OG Anunoby's Game 4 tip-in, and Jalen Brunson for "Best Player."
