Manchester City star Erling Haaland has unveiled a new look, trading his well-known shoulder-length blonde hair for a short buzzcut. The change, documented in a YouTube vlog titled "New Season, New Hair!!", has garnered significant attention from fans and fellow athletes.

Haaland, previously recognized for his flowing locks, shared his decision to cut his hair, stating, "This beautiful blonde hair, time to let it go." His hairstylist expressed some hesitation, but the 26-year-old Norwegian footballer was reportedly ready for the transformation.

"New Season, New Hair!!" he wrote, accompanying the vlog that followed him through the haircut. During the process, he FaceTimed friends and teammates, some of whom joked about him losing a bet or whether the new style would improve his speed. Spanish football manager Pep Guardiola, known for his own bald head, humorously remarked, "You’re lucky to have hair. I would love to have it!"

Haaland revealed that the decision to cut his hair had been considered for some time, with thoughts of doing it after the World Cup. However, a busy schedule delayed the change until the start of the new soccer season, which he felt was an opportune moment for a "fresh start."

His girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, was present during the haircut and expressed a mix of surprise and emotion, saying, "I think I will cry."

Haaland had subtly teased the new style on X (formerly Twitter) in a short video, showing his long hair before revealing the buzzcut. The stark contrast to his recognizable appearance has been a point of discussion, as many athletes opt for shorter styles during the summer months.

The soccer star's distinctive hair has been a significant part of his public image. While hair grows back, the length he has shed will take time to return. For now, he is leaning into other signature aspects, such as his collection of Birkin bags.
