Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has unveiled a new look for the upcoming Premier League season, opting for a buzz cut.
Haaland shared the change on social media with the caption, "New season, new trim." The striker had previously sported longer blonde hair, a style that had become iconic. Before the haircut, Haaland reportedly showed off images of his past hairstyles and entertained ideas for his new look.
The decision to change his hairstyle elicited reactions from several notable figures. Manchester City teammate Jack Grealish described Haaland as looking "about 10 years old" and found the change "hilarious." Former City manager Pep Guardiola and Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher also expressed approval. Gallagher remarked, "You look about 17 years old. It's good. Change is good," while Guardiola stated, "I love it."
In a humorous exchange, Haaland mentioned that former player Zlatan Ibrahimović had advised him against cutting his hair, believing his strength was in his locks. Ibrahimović apparently reacted to the new buzz cut by questioning if Haaland had lost a bet and suggested blocking his number.
Haaland will be aiming for a strong start to the season with his new appearance when Manchester City faces Bournemouth on Sunday.
