Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Edgardo Henriquez has set a new franchise record for the fastest strikeout pitch, clocking in at 103.6 miles per hour with a sinker. The pitch, recorded on Saturday, August 29, 2026, during a game against the Detroit Tigers, was confirmed by Statcast data and officially recognized by MLB as the fastest strikeout pitch in Dodgers history since pitch tracking began in 2008.

This record-breaking performance underscores Henriquez's exceptional velocity. The 24-year-old already held significant figures in the Dodgers' record books, accounting for 22 of the fastest tracked pitches and 14 of the 16 fastest strikeout pitches. His sinker velocity on Saturday tied his career high, previously achieved on June 2 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Henriquez's pitches consistently register at high speeds. His average sinker velocity for the 2026 season is 100.8 mph, with his four-seamer averaging 100.5 mph. This sustained triple-digit velocity has become a hallmark of his pitching style. In August 2025, his 103.3 mph four-seamer against Ryan O’Hearn had matched Jonathan Broxton’s franchise record from the tracking era.

Despite the individual milestone, the Dodgers lost the game to the Tigers, 2-1. Henriquez, however, delivered a scoreless eighth inning, continuing his trend of high-impact performances. The pitcher's ability to consistently reach such extraordinary velocities has begun to normalize what was once considered exceptional, turning record-setting speeds into routine occurrences.
