Dillon Brooks has agreed to a three-year, $73 million contract extension with the Phoenix Suns, a deal that will keep the forward with the team through the 2029-30 NBA season. The contract is fully guaranteed, according to multiple reports. The first year of the extension is set to pay Brooks $22 million.

Brooks, 30, is entering his 10th season in the league. He joined the Suns last offseason after the Rockets sent him to Phoenix as part of the trade that brought Kevin Durant to the team. In his first season with Phoenix, Brooks averaged a career-high 20.2 points per game and helped the team reach the postseason. During the playoffs, he averaged a team-high 26 points, shooting 43.8 percent from three-point range. The Suns' playoff run concluded in the first round with a sweep by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Brooks began his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies after being drafted by the Houston Rockets in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft. He played six seasons in Memphis before being traded to the Rockets in 2023 as part of a multi-team deal. He played two seasons in Houston before his move to Phoenix.

Brooks is known for his aggressive, physical style of play on defense. He has embraced a 'villain' persona, which he has stated is a motivation. Reflecting on his extension, Brooks told The Arizona Republic, “Villain is here to stay. Championship is all on my mind.”
