FOX Sports analyst Colin Cowherd has projected the Detroit Lions to win the NFC North division in the 2026 NFL season, citing the team's superior roster and coaching staff. Cowherd expressed confidence in the Lions' potential to not only secure the division title but also make a deep postseason run, potentially contending for a Super Bowl.
Cowherd specifically lauded the Lions' offensive talent, pointing to their skilled players at wide receiver, tight end, and running back, including Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta, and Penei Sewell. He also noted the team's investment in its offensive line, with the drafting of tackle Blake Miller in the first round to complement Sewell.
"They won nine last year with a brutal schedule and a truckload of injuries," Cowherd stated, emphasizing the team's resilience. "I think Detroit could win the Super Bowl."
He also anticipates a competitive season for the Chicago Bears, who are projected to be the second-strongest team in the division. Cowherd highlighted the team's recent playoff appearance and playoff victory as indicators of progress. He expects continued growth from quarterback Caleb Williams, supported by a new group of playmakers, including receivers Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III, and tight end Colston Loveland.
"The Bears' first year with Ben Johnson, creating a culture and cleaning up a mess, made the playoffs," Cowherd said. "I think Caleb Williams will be more accurate. He's a young kid. He's getting better, and I love their tight end, receiver, running back group."
