Marc Cucurella, the Spanish national team's left-back, has confirmed his commitment to a unique promise made before the World Cup: he will get a tattoo of coach Luis de la Fuente's face after Spain's victory over Argentina.

Cucurella had stated on Cadena COPE prior to the tournament that "If we win the World Cup, I'll get a tattoo of Luis de la Fuente's face." Following Spain's 1-0 win in the final at New York New Jersey Stadium, and with his championship medal, he took to social media to find an artist.

Despite his resolve, Cucurella expressed uncertainty about the tattoo's placement, telling Marca, "I don't know yet. I have to think about where I'm going to get it." He added that it doesn't necessarily need to be in a visible spot.

Coach Luis de la Fuente acknowledged the promise, stating, "I've already told them they were wrong. And if you make a promise, you have to keep it. I'm not that ugly either."

Beyond the tattoo anecdote, Cucurella reflected on his career journey, acknowledging the challenges and criticisms he faced. "During our careers, especially in our teens and when we're young, it's tough, and you have to make decisions. Sometimes people tell you you're not good enough or that you'll never make it," he said. He thanked those who offered advice and support, emphasizing perseverance. "We have been stubborn, we have never given up, and today we have the reward of being here."

Cucurella also highlighted the strong bond forged among the players during their nearly two-month training camp. "This summer hasn't been easy for us, and I'm very happy... It's been a long journey; we've been together for a long time, and now it's time to celebrate," he stated. The team's shared goal and extended time together were crucial elements in their success.
