The couple appeared to be enjoying a period of relaxation following Ronaldo's participation in his final World Cup tournament. Earlier in July, Ronaldo announced that this tournament would mark his last, despite his career not yet including a World Cup title. He had expressed his emotions about the experience, stating that it was the World Cup he would remember the most due to the passion of the fans and that, emotionally, it had been the best.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez are also approaching their first anniversary of engagement, having become engaged in August of the previous year after eight years together. Rodriguez had shared the news of the proposal on Instagram. Ronaldo recounted the proposal to Piers Morgan, describing it as an impromptu moment around 1 a.m. when his children encouraged him to ask Rodriguez to marry him. He also mentioned his efforts to find the perfect engagement ring for Rodriguez, fulfilling one of her dreams.
