South Florida Bulls women's basketball center Kendall Puryear's unusual free-throw shooting motion gained viral attention during a recent season-opener. In the second quarter of the Bulls' game against the Furman Paladins, Puryear approached the foul line and, instead of her usual technique, cocked back her right arm and chucked the ball toward the basket.

She missed both free throws, which were the only ones she attempted in the game. Puryear finished the contest with 12 points, nine rebounds, and three steals in 28 minutes of play, contributing to South Florida's 80-54 victory.

Puryear, a junior, transferred to South Florida from the Purdue Boilermakers, where she played her first two collegiate seasons. During the 2025-26 season with Purdue, she averaged 6.6 points and 3.2 rebounds. Puryear has a career free-throw percentage of 57%.
