Charlie Woods displayed a flash of intensity reminiscent of his father during a U.S. Junior Amateur playoff on Tuesday. The 17-year-old golfer expressed his displeasure with a spectator who took a photo as Woods was executing a critical pitch shot.
"Really, dude?" Woods said to the fan, according to onlookers. Another person in the crowd admonished the photographer, stating, "Right in the middle of his swing."
The incident occurred on the first playoff hole at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where Woods was competing for a spot in the Round of 64. He had finished the initial two rounds at 5-over par, necessitating a playoff with 13 other golfers for two available match play berths.
According to reports, the errant photograph was taken as Woods was in his backswing. He subsequently hit his shot short of the green from the rough and went on to make a bogey, ending his participation in the championship. Woods is ranked 1,841 in the amateur rankings and is slated to begin his college golf career at Florida State University.
This was not the only moment of frustration for Woods during the tournament. He was also overheard using an expletive after an errant tee shot on the par-3 11th hole. The intense scrutiny surrounding the son of golf legend Tiger Woods is a constant factor as Charlie carves out his own path in the sport. He has achieved notable successes, including a victory at the Team Taylor Made Invitational in May 2025.
Charlie Woods is one of two children of Tiger Woods and his ex-wife Elin Nordegren. His older sister, Sam, is attending Stanford University.
