Charlie Woods, son of golf icon Tiger Woods, experienced another setback in his amateur career this week, missing the cut at the North & South Men's Amateur at Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 in North Carolina.
Woods, 17, finished at 7-over par across 36 holes. He was positioned near the cut line for much of his second round on Wednesday but faltered in the final four holes, recording two bogeys, a triple bogey, and another bogey. This performance dropped him six shots below the threshold required to advance to the match play competition, which began Thursday with the top 31 golfers.
MISSING THE CUT AT PINEHURST
Woods, who is slated to play college golf at Florida State as part of the class of 2027, is a rising senior at The Benjamin School. However, recent performances on the amateur circuit have presented challenges.
In May, Woods finished 28th at the Team TaylorMade Invitational, an event he had won the previous year. He finished 17 shots behind the winner after shooting three over par in the final round. In April, during his first tournament after his father's DUI arrest, Woods placed 57th out of 72 competitors, finishing six over par with rounds of 79 and 71.
