Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love will be sidelined for at least a week due to an ankle injury sustained during the team's first preseason game. Head coach Mike LaFleur confirmed Saturday that Love, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, is experiencing more soreness than initially anticipated.
Love will not participate in the Cardinals' upcoming preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys next Saturday. He recorded 11 carries for 58 yards and three receptions for 14 yards in the preseason opener against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday.
With Love out, Tyler Allgeier is set to assume the starting running back role, with Bam Knight and Corey Kiner as backups. The Cardinals' backfield is also managing the recovery of veteran running back James Conner, who has yet to participate in full 11-on-11 drills as he recuperates from a foot injury that caused him to miss significant time last season.
Additional Rookie Injury
The Cardinals' injury woes extend to the offensive line, where second-round pick Chase Bisontis has suffered a torn MCL in his left knee. LaFleur stated that Bisontis will undergo surgery and is expected to miss a substantial portion of the season, if not the entire year. This injury is a significant blow to the team's offensive line depth, particularly as Bisontis was competing for the starting right guard position.
