The Milwaukee Bucks have re-signed swingman Gary Trent Jr. to a four-year contract worth $64 million, according to ESPN. The move comes shortly after the team traded away two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo late last month.
Trent, 27, has been an integral part of the Bucks since joining the team on a league-minimum deal two years ago. In 139 games with Milwaukee, he has averaged 9.7 points per game while shooting 39.1% from three-point range.
Prior to last season, Trent agreed to a two-year, $7.5 million deal but opted out of his player option, making him an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Reports indicated that other teams had expressed interest in Trent through potential sign-and-trade agreements.
Trent's re-signing provides the Bucks with significant depth at the guard position. The team recently acquired All-Star Tyler Herro from the Miami Heat in the Antetokounmpo trade and added Caris LeVert from the Detroit Pistons in a separate six-team deal. Milwaukee also has Ryan Rollins and Kevin Porter Jr. on the roster, in addition to drafting Brayden Burries with the 10th overall pick in this year's draft.
The departure of Antetokounmpo marked a significant shift for the franchise. Following the finalization of the trade, Antetokounmpo shared an emotional video expressing his gratitude to the Bucks organization and the city of Milwaukee, stating it would always hold a special place in his heart.
