England has dropped fast bowler Brydon Carse from the squad for the third Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston. Carse, 31, was previously removed from consideration for the second Test after an incident at a Derby nightclub on August 22.

Derbyshire police are investigating allegations of assault related to the incident. Carse remains under investigation and is not participating in Durham's current County Championship fixture. He was released without charge following the arrest, which occurred while he was celebrating a win with teammates.

A social media video showed Carse surrounded by police outside the club, with fellow Durham players Ben Stokes and Matthew Potts visible in the background. One officer is heard telling Carse to move.

This decision comes after England's new Test captain, Joe Root, removed the team curfew, stating a desire to trust players to act responsibly.

Matthew Fisher has also been omitted from the squad for the Edgbaston match. Sonny Baker has been retained as part of a 15-player group after being named as Carse's replacement in the previous match, which England won by 194 runs at Lord's. In that game, Ollie Robinson took eight wickets, moving to 99 career wickets and fifth place in the Test bowling rankings.

Carse was part of England's squad for the first two Tests against Pakistan and was the team's leading wicket-taker during the Ashes defeat in Australia.

The England squad for the third Test is: Joe Root (captain), Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Sonny Baker, Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Sam Cook, Jordan Cox, Ben Duckett, Emilio Gay, Dan Lawrence, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Jamie Smith, and Josh Tongue.
