Golfer Brooks Koepka described a period of "complete panic" on Sunday after realizing he was listed as a withdrawal from the Genesis Scottish Open, a situation that arose from an unknown error in event registration.
Koepka stated that he received text messages informing him of his withdrawal and subsequently checked the PGA Tour app. "I didn't see any name, either, and I was in a little bit of panic," Koepka told reporters. He attempted to contact his agent, Blake Smith, but faced difficulties due to the early hour in Smith's location. The confusion lasted for approximately two hours before being resolved.
Despite the mix-up, Koepka will participate in the event after receiving a sponsor's invitation. This will mark his debut at the Renaissance Club and his first appearance in the Scottish Open since 2015. He had previously withdrawn from the RBC Canadian Open last month due to a hand injury but has secured six top-20 finishes this season.
Koepka is currently ranked 81st in the FedEx Cup standings. Following the Scottish Open, he is scheduled to compete in The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.
