Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff is expected to miss the remainder of the season after announcing he will undergo right shoulder capsule surgery. The 33-year-old right-hander, who previously had the same procedure in 2023 and spent 20 months in rehabilitation, stated his goal is to pitch again.

Woodruff has been hampered by arm and shoulder injuries this year, landing on the injured list in July with his most recent issue. Despite the setbacks, he has pitched effectively in nine appearances this season, totaling 45 1/3 innings with a 2.98 earned run average.

Woodruff, a former Mississippi State star, made his major league debut in 2017 and has been a consistent presence for the Brewers. He earned All-Star selections in 2019 and 2021. He has spent his entire career with Milwaukee after being drafted by the team in 2014.

His injury represents a significant blow to the Brewers, who currently lead the National League Central with a 60-37 record. Across Major League Baseball, only the Dodgers have a better record than Milwaukee as the season progresses into its second half.
