New York Jets running back Breece Hall experienced a non-contact groin strain during a training camp practice on Monday. While the full extent of the injury will be determined after further evaluation, head coach Aaron Glenn expressed optimism that it is not a significant issue.
Hall went down on the field without contact during a drill, causing concern among teammates and coaches. He was seen leaving the field and entering the medical tent before heading to the locker room. The injury occurred shortly after Hall signed a three-year, $43.5 million contract extension.
Backup running back Braelon Allen shared the team's initial concern, stating, "My stomach dropped a little bit." He added, "From the sounds of it, it doesn’t seem too serious, so I’m hoping he gets back as quick as possible."
Last season, Hall recorded 1,065 rushing yards and four touchdowns, alongside 36 receptions for 350 yards and one score. He has been a key player for the Jets, particularly as the team aims to improve its offense under new offensive coordinator Frank Reich. Hall's health is considered paramount for the team's success in the upcoming season. He has demonstrated durability in recent years, missing only two games in the last three seasons despite a rookie campaign cut short by an ACL injury. Hall is recognized as a dual-threat running back capable of impacting both the run and pass games.
Other running backs on the depth chart include Braelon Allen and Kene Nwangwu, with Isaiah Davis also recovering from a minor knee injury.
