Bournemouth maintained their flawless start in the Europa League with a 3-1 comeback victory against Sparta Prague. The win, their furthest-ever competitive away fixture at 714 miles, saw them secure three points thanks to second-half goals from substitutes Tyler Adams, Evanilson, and Rayan.
Bournemouth manager Marco Rose, who made eight changes from their Premier League win against Leeds, saw his side respond after Sparta defender Tobias Guddal was sent off in the first half. Guddal received two yellow cards, the second for a foul on striker Alvaro Rodriguez.
Sparta Prague had taken the lead through winger Ebrima Singhateh, who scored a stunning solo goal after a Bournemouth corner. Earlier, Bournemouth had missed a penalty when Lewis Cook's effort struck the inside of the post. Jonatan Braut Brunes also missed an early chance for the hosts.
Adams equalized for Bournemouth in the 57th minute after pouncing on a loose pass. Evanilson then scored a sublime goal from the edge of the area, assisted by Adrien Truffert, and later turned provider for Rayan to seal the victory with a long-range shot.
This victory marks Bournemouth's seventh consecutive win across all competitions and their fourth out of four in the Europa League.
In another European fixture, Crystal Palace secured a vital point at home against Hoffenheim with a 1-1 draw. Daichi Kamada scored a late equalizer for Palace in added time, slotting the ball through the legs of Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann after Alexander Prass had given the visitors an early lead.
Palace manager Pierre Sage, who had faced increasing pressure due to a run of poor results, was handed a lifeline by Kamada's goal. The team had struggled with several key players absent and a lack of depth in the squad.
Prass opened the scoring for Hoffenheim in the seventh minute after a swift counter-attack saw the ball squirm past Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson. The home defense was criticized for being ill-equipped and lacking experience.
Crystal Palace showed frustration during the second half, receiving four yellow cards in quick succession before Adam Wharton was also booked.
Kamada's late strike ensured Sage's side avoided defeat and will allow him to continue as manager as they prepare to face Liverpool next.
