Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala announced he is undergoing treatment for a neurological dysfunction that caused him to collapse on the pitch twice in four days. The 23-year-old player shared the update via Instagram on Tuesday, seeking to allay concerns about his health.

Musiala collapsed for the second time during Bayern's pre-season friendly victory over Heidenheim on Tuesday, approximately six minutes after entering the match as a substitute. Teammates, led by Harry Kane, quickly formed a protective shield around him to ensure his privacy during the incident. Musiala received medical attention on the field and was visibly dazed as he was helped off, replaced by Cassiano Kiala.

This event followed a similar collapse during Bayern's friendly match against RB Leipzig four days prior. In that instance, footage showed Musiala appearing disoriented after scoring, before he was caught by teammate Ismael Saibari as he fell.

In his statement, Musiala clarified that he has been diagnosed with brief, temporary, but treatable absence seizures stemming from a neurological dysfunction. He described these as part of his daily life and stated he is receiving excellent medical care. "I am receiving excellent medical care and remain very optimistic. FC Bayern and my personal support network are right by my side, helping me through this," Musiala wrote.

He emphasized that there is no further health risk involved and that his decision to continue playing was made in close consultation with medical experts. "With the medical clearance of the neurologists, I want to continue doing what helps my recovery most: simply living my life and pursuing my passion for playing football," he stated. Musiala also asked for privacy regarding the matter, sharing it only with his close circle, the club, and medical professionals.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl had indicated prior to Musiala's statement that an update on the player's condition would be forthcoming.
