Oakland Athletics infielder Joshua Kuroda-Grauer underwent surgery on Tuesday for a ruptured testicle sustained during the team's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. The injury occurred when Kuroda-Grauer fouled a ball off his groin area.

Despite the injury, Kuroda-Grauer remained in the game and got a hit before being removed due to severe pain. The 23-year-old, who was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on June 29, had been performing well for the Athletics, hitting .417 with a 1.019 OPS and recording eight multi-hit games in 16 contests.

The surgery took place at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix. Recovery timelines for such a rare injury typically range from four to six weeks, depending on the player's condition.

Kuroda-Grauer made his MLB debut last month against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Following his first MLB hit in that game, Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman offered him congratulations.
