Aston Villa has reached an agreement to sign West Ham defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The deal is structured as an initial loan with an obligation for Villa to purchase the player at the end of the season.

Wan-Bissaka has been granted permission to travel for a medical examination in the Midlands. While the precise financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, West Ham had previously indicated a asking price of £25 million for the right-back. The 28-year-old missed West Ham's opening two matches of the current season as transfer negotiations progressed.

This summer, West Ham has seen other player movements, including the sales of Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham for £85 million and Crysencio Summerville for £60 million. However, the club has secured captain Jarrod Bowen on a new contract.

Aston Villa has also been active in the transfer market. Notably, they sold Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for £117 million. Despite significant sales, Villa currently holds the lowest net spend in the Premier League, approximately £110 million when accounting for player sales. The club has also added midfielders Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes, and Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho on a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy. Young centre-back Modou Keba Cisse has also joined the squad.

Aston Villa is set to commence their Premier League campaign on Sunday at Brighton. The team will also participate in the Champions League, having secured qualification by finishing fourth in the league and winning the Europa League last season under manager Unai Emery.
