Arsenal has expressed interest in acquiring Jarell Quansah, a defender currently playing for Bayer Leverkusen and the England national team. Reports indicate Arsenal are considering a move for the center-back.
Quansah made 44 appearances for Leverkusen last season, contributing five goals. He was part of the England squad that reached the semi-finals of the World Cup this summer. During the tournament, he started three matches at right-back but was sent off in the last-16 game against Mexico, which resulted in him missing the quarter-final and semi-final matches.
This potential transfer comes as Arsenal faces defensive challenges. William Saliba is expected to miss the start of the Premier League title defense due to a back injury sustained at the World Cup. Additionally, Jurrien Timber, a right-back, is also facing fitness concerns after missing two months last season with an ankle injury.
Liverpool, Quansah's former club, holds an option to match any offer for him as part of the agreement that saw him leave Anfield for Germany last year. However, it is understood that Liverpool does not intend to exercise this clause.
