Arne Slot, recently dismissed by Liverpool, has reportedly rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli, signaling his intent to continue his managerial career within European football.

Al Ahli had identified Slot as a primary target to replace Matthias Jaissle, who is expected to take over as the new manager of Newcastle United. Slot, however, is reportedly focused on securing a position with another prominent European club and plans to decline Al Ahli's official approach.

While speculation has linked Slot to the Netherlands national team following Ronald Koeman's departure after the World Cup, sources indicate his current priority is remaining in club management, though he is flattered by the prospect of managing his country in the future.

Slot's tenure at Liverpool concluded at the end of May, less than a year after leading the team to a Premier League title. The club finished fifth in the Premier League last season, a campaign marked by 20 defeats across all competitions. During his time at Anfield, Slot faced pressure from some supporters regarding his playing style, and notable players, including Mohamed Salah, publicly voiced their opinions. His dismissal followed a review of the team's performance led by Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards of Fenway Sports Group.

Before his move to Liverpool, Slot achieved success with Feyenoord, winning the Eredivisie title and the Dutch Cup, and reaching the Conference League final.

Al-Ahli's search for a new manager comes as Jaissle is poised to join Newcastle. Jaissle, 38, previously managed Red Bull Salzburg and has experience in Saudi Arabia, where he won the Asian Champions League in 2025 and 2026. The expectation is that Jaissle will be in charge of the Newcastle squad when they travel to La Manga for training this weekend.
