LPGA legend Annika Sorenstam believes that WNBA star Caitlin Clark's popularity is beneficial for women's sports and has helped attract a new demographic to golf.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Sorenstam noted Clark's impact, particularly during her participation in pro-am events. "She's obviously very popular. She brings a new demographic to the game, and when she's there playing the pro-am, I mean we have a lot of people attending and wanting her autograph. Following her and every shot, and she's just great for women's sports and we love to have her a part of it," Sorenstam said.

Sorenstam, who is set to compete in the American Century Championship, acknowledged that Clark's WNBA schedule prevents her from participating in the celebrity golf tournament. However, Sorenstam expressed confidence in Clark's potential golf abilities, citing her athleticism and long-standing passion for the sport. "I think she would do quite well (at the American Century Championship.) I mean, she's quite an athlete, as you know. That's kind of stating the obvious. But she loves golf. She's played golf for many years, and I know every time she gets a chance, she goes to the course," Sorenstam told Fox News Digital.

Clark has previously participated in the ANNIKA Pro-Am, an event hosted by Sorenstam. The LPGA great has been impressed with Clark's golf game during these events.

Sorenstam also discussed her own work with the Annika Foundation, an organization focused on empowering young women through golf and providing life skills. "We try to empower and advance young women through the game of golf, but also in life, different life skills, and it's been really rewarding and satisfying to see how far women's golf has come and how many of these young women are pursuing their dreams. It's been a lot of fun, and just watching the difference we're making in these young women's life," Sorenstam stated.

The American Century Championship, where Sorenstam is a contender, will feature a Stableford scoring format, requiring an aggressive approach for birdies and eagles. The tournament is scheduled to be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.

Meanwhile, WNBA legend Nancy Lieberman has also credited Clark with positively impacting the WNBA, referencing the league's new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Lieberman also revealed her dedication to prostate cancer awareness.
