Sprinter Amy Hunt is poised to potentially win her third gold medal at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham after helping Great Britain's 4x100 meter relay team secure a spot in the final. The 24-year-old achieved victories in the 100m and 200m events earlier in the championship, placing her one win away from matching a record set by Dina Asher-Smith in 2018.
Hunt also has an opportunity to claim a fourth gold medal in the inaugural 4x100 mixed relay event. She expressed a desire to become the first athlete to win four European gold medals at a single championship. "Two out of four, baby," she told the BBC, describing the week as "magical" and one she would remember for the rest of her life. However, she stated there would be "no celebrations and no champagne until Sunday night."
Regarding the women's 4x100m relay, Hunt emphasized the team's determination, saying, "I have got a debt to the ladies. We have got to come out here and make sure we show them who the best sprinting nation is in Europe."

Hunt has demonstrated exceptional form in the lead-up to the championships. In June, she broke the 11-second barrier for the 100 meters for the first time, running 10.97 seconds at a Diamond League meeting in Stockholm. She also ran under 11 seconds at Norway’s Bislett Games and retained her UK 100m title with a time of 11.01 seconds.
Former 1500 meter world champion and commentator Steve Cram noted Hunt's comprehensive athletic abilities, stating she possesses "the speed, the endurance, the confidence." Dina Asher-Smith, Britain's fastest woman on record, has previously won six European gold medals across five championships.
