Adam Peaty secured a first-place finish in the Men's 50m Breaststroke Heat at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday, while his wife, Holly Ramsay-Peaty, watched from the stands. Ramsay-Peaty, who is pregnant with the couple's first child, appeared to be in good spirits as she supported her husband during the competition.

The swimmer's performance came after he took third place in the 100m Breaststroke final on Saturday. In a post-swim interview following that event, Peaty tearfully acknowledged the impact of his ongoing family feud, stating that the fallout "has taken its toll."

The reported conflict within the Peaty family reportedly stems from 2024, when Adam and Holly did not invite wider family members to their engagement party or wedding. Peaty's mother, Caroline, who previously supported his training, was also reportedly not invited to Ramsay-Peaty's hen do. Peaty later addressed the feud on Instagram, suggesting there are "two sides to every story."

Further reports indicated a falling out between Peaty's pregnant sister, Bethany, and Holly, leaving Bethany as reportedly the only family member still in contact with the couple. The Daily Mail reported that friends of Adam's mother, Caroline, stated she is heartbroken over being allegedly banned from watching her son compete.

Peaty expressed the emotional strain of the situation in his interviews. "It's hard because I know how hard I've worked," he said. "I know the s**t I've been through, which is no fault of my own. It does take a toll."

He reflected on the sacrifices made for his sport, questioning the purpose of early morning training sessions, daily mileage, and missed family events if his performances are not meeting his expectations. "It has to mean something," Peaty stated. "For me, that means striving for excellence, and today wasn't excellence. That's where the emotion comes from."

Peaty acknowledged making difficult decisions in recent months to focus on his career, adding, "I've had to ignore a lot of the rubbish people write online. Enough is enough. This goes beyond sport. It's about being decent people. We all have to do better."

He also commented on his name change, now competing under the double-barrelled Ramsay-Peaty surname, with Ramsay listed first. Sources close to the estranged family reportedly said, "Adam may be rich but we have something that he hasn't and that is brains, loyalty, integrity and family. Money makes for a cold bedfellow."
