Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has posted photos on Instagram with his parents, Darla and Ed Rodgers, suggesting a reconciliation after nearly a dozen years of estrangement. The images, shared Monday evening, show Rodgers with his mother and father, accompanied by the caption "Another bonding week" and the hashtag "#fam."

This development comes as Rodgers prepares for what he has described as his "last rodeo" in his final NFL season. The quarterback's strained relationship with his parents has been a subject of public discussion, though the specific reasons for the estrangement have not been definitively stated by either party.

Ed Rodgers told The New York Times years ago that the family communication ceased around 2014, describing the situation as "complicated." The rift became more widely known when Rodgers' younger brother, Jordan Rodgers, appeared on "The Bachelorette" and commented on the limited relationship he and Aaron had, attributing it to "the way he's chosen to do life."

Rodgers himself has alluded to growing apart from his family earlier than 2014. In a 2024 Netflix documentary, he cited differing value systems, religious beliefs, and a lack of emotional support as contributing factors to the rift. Rodgers, who grew up in an evangelical Christian environment, has also spoken publicly about his exploration of ayahuasca, Ayurveda, and a "darkness retreat," suggesting a divergence from his family's traditional beliefs.

Rodgers and his teammates recently concluded a bonding week in preparation for the upcoming season. The Steelers are scheduled to report for training camp on July 28. Rodgers, at 42, appears to be addressing personal matters as he approaches the end of his NFL career.
